Message 79 - Louise Richardson
Dear Ms. Graham

I recently came across Gone With The Windsors and wanted to say how thoroughly I enjoyed Maybell Brumby and her journal. She was a fascinating character and the perfect vehicle to illustrate the aimlessness of the society in which she moved. She matures throughout the novel, in a natural and subtle manner, which I found satisfying.
I especially loved the little trapdoors of ignorance through which you allowed her to fall now and again. The coal porter incident is my favourite of those.
The book was beautifully written, immensely entertaining and I look forward to reading the rest of your work.

Many thanks
Louise Richardson

Hi, I've read all of your books, more than once! You are the only author I can say this about. I always buy loads of books, but find it hard to start a new book after reading a really good one, so usually go back to one of yours inbetween. I have loved all of them, but especially loved 'The Unfortunates', Poppy was such a terrific character. Please could you write a little faster if possible as I'd love to read more and more of your work! Thanks so much for all the joy you have given me in the small hours when I find going to sleep impossible. Cathy x

Hello Laurie. I first found you in Candis mag a few years ago, and just love to read your contribution each month. I read you first, always makes me smile and laugh. This month was good, about Christmas, so true!! Absolutely love your wit! Just recently seen that you have this site, so will be a keen visitor from now on. Only read one of your books, but have seen comments on others on this site, so I will be looking out for them to read.
Kind regards. Sandra Harrison

I've just finished Gone with the Windsors and felt moved to check out your website and contact you. I am an avid reader and I can honestly say that this was the only book which I have been really sad to finish! It was also rare in that it frequently made me laugh out loud (often quite embarrassing on the underground!). Thank you so much for creating Maybell Brumby! I've read most of your other books and in particular loved The Unfortunates (similar character to Maybell - maybe a distant relative?) but am finding myself wanting to hold back or I won't have anything else to look forward to! A friend once asked me if I had read another author and when I said I hadn't, she replied "Oh, you lucky thing - you've got all those books ahead of you!" It didn't quite work for me with the author she suggested but I now feel that way about your books so understand what she meant.
Thank you!

I very much enjoyed Gone with the Windsors and The Unfortunates. Have now bought The Ten O'clock Horses, and am planning on reading more of your books. Please keep writing. PS I love Venice too.
